Giveaway $25 Family Christian Gift Card (Review) #flyway

I have been a patron of Family Christian stores ever since my wife introduced me to them over a decade ago. Since then it has become a traditional store for us to visit. Usually around Christmas time as well as when there is a birthday or other celebration coming up.

One thing that I have noticed about any Family Christian Store I have been in, it’s the people.

My latest trip to my local store this past week was no exception. Driving out there on my lunch break, in hopes that I would be able to get in and out quickly.

I was greeted by the assistant manager, Patricia with a smile and words of blessings. Only after the cheerful greeting did she offer assistance. Unlike many retail stores, you could tell her spirit and heart truly meant the words she shared.

#FamilyChristianStores. #FlyBy , Stan Toler BooksAfter declining her generous offer to help, I proceeded to peruse around the store. There was a buy one get one 50% off Sale going on that peaked my interest. With brick and mortar stores these days, without an appealing sale, people are inclined to stay at home and order off the web. I wandered around the store and before I knew it I had been there over thirty minutes. Still with no purchase in hand. It was not for not finding one; it was from finding so many and having to decide.

Finally, I chose two books by Stan Toler that I had never heard of before; it is buy one get one after all, how could I resist?

As I waited in line, I observed the assistant manager as she tended to the customers in front of me. She joyfully shared her personal life story. She related it to the World Vision campaign that was on the TV behind her and all the work they do around the world. Patricia went out of her way to answer all the customer’s questions. She gave a discount to the client because she could not because someone asked for it or it was needed.

When it was my turn, the assistant manager’s joy continued to brighten my day. She made sure I found everything I needed. I happened to catch a few images on the screen behind her, and it reminded me of the kids in Haiti. I made a comment about it to her, and we got into an in-depth conversation about missions around the world. The assistant manager even asked me to come back by the store before we go back to Haiti. That way they could pour into the children over in Haiti when we go. I checked out and took a moment before I left to gather myself. Kindness like this is what it is meant to be a Christian I thought. I was blown away by her generosity and faithfulness to want to pour into others.

I am looking forward to not only reading the two books that I purchased but also returning to my local Family Christian again soon.

The buy one get one 50 percent off sale runs until August 25th so be sure to visit your local store before the sale is gone.

  19. I used to work for Family Christian many years ago. Still enjoy going in and perusing the selection of books and other goodies there.

  20. My littles & I love going to Family Christian & have found our experience to be the same. It is definitely an atmosphere of peace & joy. Nobody ever makes you feel rushed or that you’ve out stayed your welcome if you’re there for a significant amount of time. What I especially love is that they are welcoming to children. As a single mom to two littles 6 & 4, it can be hard to go places where you know you may not be welcome, or where they are constantly worried that something of theirs will break even if your kids aren’t doing anything. Speaking of which, if I won, I would buy them something, Veggie Tales of course 🙂 I’ve been in a long & difficult season of unemployment & my kids have faithfully & graciously walked through it. They will walk into the store, any store really, look around, & leave happy even though they didn’t get to buy anything. I’m so proud of them. We actually went there today because my son is having some anxiety about starting kindergarten next week. He bought a small wooden cross for 53 cents {his own money} to keep in his pocket. Grateful that they had something their that he could afford that will help him navigate this new season. Thanks for sharing your experience & for endorsing such a great company. Blessings!
